Advanced Acoustic Concepts Announces Acoustic Tile Project

2004-07-13

Advanced Acoustic Concepts (AAC), of Hauppauge NY, has been awarded an $800,000 production contract from the US Navy to manufacture the Acoustic Tile Window for installation on US submarines. The acoustic window will be delivered to the US Navy from AAC’s new manufacturing and integration and testing facility at their Fayette County Operations in Uniontown, PA.

The primary purpose of the acoustic window is to provide an acoustically transparent interface to seawater from the sensor by allowing high frequency acoustic signals to pass with little reflection or attenuation. Second, the window provides protection to the sensor from floating debris and smoother conformance to the hull, thereby reducing flow noise. AAC Senior Vice President, Brian Boyle, declared, “AAC would like to thank Congressman John P. Murtha for his continued support. This award is important towards AAC’s continued commitment to begin production manufacturing at our Fayette County Operations.

AAC has been a leader in the design and development of software products running in open architecture environments that employ mainstream, readily available commercial license-free hardware/software technology. AAC‘s extensive experience in both Under Sea Warfare (USW) sensor signal processing and training applications provides a synergistic approach in producing high fidelity, innovative signal processing and training products to the Navy. Through the installation of this common technology across several Navy warfighting platforms, the company has emerged as a leading supplier of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) automated, real time processing systems and provider of tactical training support to the U.S. Navy. Headquartered in Hauppauge NY and with locations in ten states, AAC is a privately held company with annual sales of $30 million and more than 150 employees. The Fayette County Operations currently employs 45 fulltime associates and 20 interns.
